5 Tips to Help Get Rid of Decision Fatigue in Your Life
Even though decision fatigue is something that many people experience each and every day, most of us have never really understood or actually known what to call it. And, while it’s considered a common condition among many people, decision fatigue often involves exhausting conditions from making countless decisions in our lives, especially with those decisions which we often need to make every day.
Many of our jobs and careers also involve us to make necessary decisions every day. If that’s the case, what course would allow us to eventually minimize or even get rid of decision fatigue from our daily lives? Well, here’s 5 tips that can possibly help reduce and/or get rid of decision fatigue from your lives and provide you with an avenue of feeling renewed and more energized.
Stick with the same meal for every day of the week
Wow! Doesn’t that just seem boring and somewhat monotonous? For a lot of people, it’s going to be boring, no doubt! But, consider this, thinking about what to eat every day is one of the most struggling decisions people go through. What to eat for breakfast? What’s for lunch at home or at work? And best of all, what’s for dinner? Fortunately, this can easily be resolved by simply setting up and organizing some kind of meal plan or food schedule. To begin with, jot down what you would like to prepare and eat for each day of the week. To simplify things, if you want to eat eggs and toast on Monday, just repeat it again for the following Monday. The whole point of this exercise is to come up with an acceptable meal plan, something that you will enjoy. Doing this will help you to get rid of a major source of decision fatigue.
Reduce decision fatigue by wearing the same outfit
Here’s another example that just doesn’t seem right, but it works! And remember, the idea here is not to be sloppy or lazy in your efforts. The idea is to be creative. If you have a favorite shirt, a pair of pants or shorts that you like to wear, pick a day of the week to wear them and repeat the process the following the week. Do the same thing for each day of the week. This process will help you to eliminate making a decision for what you choose to wear each day and goes a long way in reducing decision fatigue.
Here’s a simple idea, let others help you in choosing
This may not always exist as an available option, but if it is, allow others the opportunity to decide for you. Basically, this option provides instant gratification by alleviating unneeded pressure. This isn’t something that is necessarily recommended regarding more personal issues, but it could be applied in situations involving group decisions or office meetings. Passing the buck, as it’s commonly referred to, is usually considered to be a bad thing. Although, if it’s kept in check, it can help reduce a lot of stress and added pressure of deciding. In the end, chances will be lower of having to deal with decision fatigue.
Making big decisions in your life often requires time
In life, we will often encounter the need to make those big and important decisions. There’s no escaping them as they’re just a normal part of life. However, you can make things easier for yourself and reduce decision fatigue simply by taking a little time to properly evaluate the factors involved with many bigger decisions. Setout and list things that are good and bad, seek the advice of others, do some research, and spend some time thinking things through. If you end up rushing the process with bigger decisions, you could easily feel more insecure about yourself and with the decisions you end up making.
Not a difficult choice, concentrate on doing the important things first
Most people will often feel better about themselves and more energized earlier in the day. Their minds, bodies and objectives for the day are fresh and ready to go. In most scenarios, people who are energized early generally schedule more important meetings first thing. This includes important decisions that need to be made. During this time, proper focus is given which helps to ensure that the right decision is being made. Decision fatigue is significantly reduced, which in turn, helps you to be more confident in the decisions that you make and provides the willingness to let go and move on with new tasks.
While there really hasn’t been a so-called name, decision fatigue is something that many individuals constantly struggle with day-in and day-out. Completing assignments and tasks has been difficult, making confident decisions has been overwhelming, and realizing any kind of final decision has proved unsuccessful. Yet, there are ways in which to reduce much of the decision fatigue in our lives. Ways in which we can deal with daily situations that involve many of the decisions we make.
By getting rid of the less important decisions in our lives such as what foods to eat or what clothes to wear can be achieved by setting a schedule. This will allow you to devote more brain power in making those bigger and important decisions with added confidence.
Take some time to establish some better habits, which can help get rid and/or reduce much of the decision fatigue you deal with in your life.
